Hotfix Rhinestones
The hotfix rhinestone is growing in popularity. Today more people than ever before are discovering how easy it is to add some glitz and glitter to their clothing. People are also using rhinestones to decorate their hats, cell phones cases, and mp3 players. A hot fix rhinestone is an easy way to apply rhinestones with only a hotfix applicator wand, a stand, and the appropriate tip.
There are two basic tips for the hotfix rhinestone applicator wand: the concave tip and the flat tip. The concave tip is used for crystals and pearls, and the flat tip is used for nailheads. First, you need to attach the appropriate tip and heat up the wand. This is why having the stand is so great you don't have to worry about it while it sits in the stand. A hotfix rhinestone applicator wand is as hot as a soldering iron so it is important that it has a safe place to rest.
If you are affixing a crystal or a pearl make sure you have the concave tip heated up to temp. Slide the Swarovski rhinestone in gently, hold it until the glue begins to get shiny and bubble, and then tap it onto the surface you want to embellish. Repeat the process until your name appears, or a flag, or any design you wish.
With nailheads you have the flat tip attached to the wand unlike the concave tip you use for Swarovski rhinestone crystals. Place the nailhead glue side down on the surface and apply light pressure to the top of the nailhead for about 10~15 seconds. Don't move the tip because moving it has the potential for scratching the nailhead. Some people use a press cloth between the applicator wand and the nailhead. Let the nailhead cool and repeat with another stone.
Now you know everything needed to use a hotfix rhinestone applicator wand. Wasn't that easy? |
